It’s getting to be that time of year when events come with an asterisk. They’re booked and ready to go, but it’s up to Mother Nature whether they’ll actually happen or not. But let’s assume Idalia blows through with no major issues and that we can enjoy a long weekend of tacos and monster trucks (but it’s probably smart to make sure they haven’t been canceled before heading out).

Jacksonville Home & Garden Show

The first of two September home and garden shows is at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds this weekend. Another one, the Jacksonville Home & Patio Show, comes to the Prime Osborn Convention Center at the end of the month.

Home shows are getting to be as common in Jacksonville as monster trucks and taco fests. The first of two September home shows is at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds all weekend, with contractors, suppliers, designers, landscapers, roofers, builders and everyone you’ll need to spruce up the old homestead. Noon-6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Free.

Iration plays Saturday at the Jacksonville Taco & Tequila Festival at Metropolitan Park.

More than 40 local restaurants and food trucks will be on hand at the festival in Metropolitan Park, offering their favorite Mexican fare, but it’s also a pretty good music fest. Hot Wheels Monster Truck Live Glow Party
