See Why The Cuisinart Toaster Oven is REALLY The Best!
It’s really frustrating to have to heat up the entire kitchen (especially in the summer days) just to make some simple recipe, or making some quick french bread pizza for a quick snack. Or waiting ten minutes just to preheat the oven. Do you want to change all that? Well, I have a great solution, the Cuisinart TOB-40N.

The Cuisinart TOB-40N has a professional, sophisticated and sleek design, which is enhanced by the steel on steel color combination. It’s light and does feel a little flimsy on the sides and back because of the metal and plastic.
If you are into how your appliance looks as well as how it performs, you will be very pleased with this toaster oven. It’s going to look great on your countertop.
The inside of the Cuisinart is simple and stylish, similar to the Breville BOV650X. It has a large interior that can fit a 12” pizza in it with 0ut a lot of hassles. Or you can bake a whole chicken, broil fish for your family (like salmon), or toasting six slices of bread at one time with this great kitchen appliance. You can also roast a regular chicken, some baked potatoes, and a small casserole, ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Important: The instruction manual states to place the oven a few inches from the wall and anything that may be close to it.
Controls and LCD Display
The digital control pad is very well labeled and easy to use. The LCD display is a must have.
The operation panel on the front looks complicated at first glance, but taking the time to become familiar with it by reading the manual makes it so easy to use once you figure out how the different buttons work together.
If you want to change the baking temperature or time, you can reprogram it. And don’t worry, the Cuisinart TOB-40N will remember your settings the next time you cook. The electronic keyboard is located below the door, saving a lot of countertop space.
Also, the controls of the Cuisinart are easy to clean and there is a signal to let you know when the oven has come up to temperature and another bell for the timer.
The Cuisinart TOB-195 toaster oven has a clock that is easy to set and you can use the timer (also easy to set) which shows up on the clock panel, and the settings for darkness or lightness also show up on the clock panel. It’s easy to see and it’s easy to use.
The Oven rack of the Cuisinart TOB-195 has two positions. The lower position is ideal for cooking a chicken, and the higher position is using for broiling. It’s very easy to install on any of the positions that are available. It works very smoothly moving it out and back in and has a small hook that it fits under to ensure a smooth run and also keeps it from coming all the way out.
The only downside is that the rack doesn’t pull out automatically when the door opens.
Heating Elements and Heating Control
This great feature of the Cuisinart TOB-40N Toaster Oven electronically monitors and adjusts the oven’s internal temperature to provide consistent toasting results from one use to the next. The heating elements deliver even heat for uniform browning, maintaining a precise oven temperature.
The Cuisinart TOB gets hot on all sides while in use, but seems to cool down quickly after shut down.
The Crumb Tray is probably the worst part of this excellent toaster oven. It slides out from the back of the toaster oven, which it’s very uncomfortable and difficult for a lot of people.
The toaster oven takes only a few minutes to warm up to the proper temperature, unlike a regular oven which can take several minutes.
The toasting quality of this toaster oven is great. The preset default setting is #4-Medium for 3 minutes. You can use the higher setting #5 or #6, if you keep your bread frozen and prefer a darker crust, which require extra time. There’s no need to add defrost.
It’s amazing how well the Cuisinart TOB-40N heats up. The oven is pre-set to 150 degrees. You hit bake and the oven automatically comes on at the 150 degrees so just hit the arrows to get the setting to where you want it and press the start button. It only takes an amazing 3 minutes for the oven to preheat to 350 degrees while big ovens take about 10 minutes to preheat.
It also has a convection function, which is a great feature. The preset is so fast and efficient and the oven does a beautiful job of baking pizza and just about anything else. It can even accommodate a smaller sized pizza stone. At the end of any cycle that you may be using, a beeper sounds five times to let you know that the item is done.
Frozen foods cook really quickly with the convection feature of this particular oven. It is ideal for throwing in a few chicken strips or mini pizzas for a quick after-school snack for the kids.
As for the noise, there is a hum from the convection fan but it is no louder than the sound of a refrigerator compressor or a microwave when in use.
The Cuisinart TOB may be a smaller oven but it is still an oven. It gets really hot, so follow the same safety precautions as you would using your regular oven and you’ll be fine.
The top rack slot has a safety catch to prevent the rack from accidentally sliding all the way out. Strangely, the bottom slot does not.
The rack has raised corners. It’s a good feature to prevent a pan from sliding off, but it’s a bad feature when inserting or removing a pan. Pans won’t simply slide in and out. You must slightly tilt it a bit. Tilting a pan full of hot liquids is never a good idea so you’ll have to carefully maneuver.
The handle is well insulated so you do not burn your fingers trying to open the door.
The Cuisinart comes with a drip pan and a broiler pan with rack.
The broiler tray and drip/baking pan that comes with the oven is large. It is a very sturdy pan set. The middle of the pan is slightly raised to allow for drippings to flow to the sides–which will be helpful when using it as a baking pan to cook greasy items.
Cuisinart includes an extremely thorough instruction manual covering everything you need to know. It also includes some very delectable recipes tailored for this toaster oven like their beef fajitas, which should always be done in a fajita pan.
Recommendation: Read the instruction book about how the shelves should be placed when toasting items. If you space out and forget to move the rack (it’s a three second move) you may end up burning your toast or bagel.

In our opinion, this Cuisinart toaster oven is one of the best toaster ovens available today.
This kitchen appliance does it all. It’s great for defrosting and toasting bagels. It is a wonderful convection oven. It looks smart and works very well. This is the perfect toaster oven for two people. You don’t have to heat up the regular oven, so it saves energy. Also, the convection feature saves time.
Is the Cuisinart TOB-40N expensive?
Well, it all depends…
I’ve seen too many people with cheaper toaster ovens that die after a few months or just can never keep the temps where they are supposed to.
I believe that when I make the decision to purchase any kitchen appliance, I should buy the one I feel to be the best so I don’t regret it later on. So yes, it cost a little more than other units but it worth it.
Where should I buy the Cuisinart TOB-40N?
The Cuisinart TOB-195 is available on the Cuisinart website and other stores but after days of research I found that the best place to buy it is on Amazon.com. At the moment they include free shipping and from what I can tell when comparing prices with other online merchants, Amazon do currently have the best deal especially with the free shipping option.
